BC Athletics 5000m Championships:
5000m Festival will host the 2026 BC Athletics 5000m Championships!
The spirit of the event is to celebrate distance running by bringing athletes, coaches, clubs, and supporters together in a focused and energetic 5000m racing environment. As part of the Vancouver Thunderbirds 5000m Festival, the championship is designed to create a positive, competitive atmosphere where athletes can challenge themselves, support one another, and be part of a growing tradition for distance running in British Columbia.
This event will be the Provincial Championship 5000m event for U20, Senior and Masters age categories. All 5000m championship races will be run as timed finals. All categories will be combined (ie. U20, Open, and Masters competitors will race together). If numbers allow for multiple sections, sections will be seeded by performance. Please read the meet package for more details on eligibility and seeding.
Deadline Date Entry Fee
Regular June 14 @ 11:59pm $40*
Late June 21 @ 11:59pm $50*

Open 800m & All-Comers 5000m:
Want to join in on the fun? Race the All-Comers 5000m and then stick around to watch the championships! The All-Comers 5000m is open to athletes without an Athletics Canada membership and is mixed gender. Please note, performances from the All-Comers 5000m are not eligible for Athletics Canada or World Athletics rankings.
Want to go faster? We are also hosting a Junior Development and Open 800m!
Pacing:
We are looking to provide pacers for top 800m and 5,000m sections. Pacers will be paid based on the assigned pace and how far they go. Pacers should always be coordinated with the meet director, in part to ensure all participants in a given race have access to the same information.
Athletes interested in pacing should email the meet director at leslie.sexton@gmail.com
