THUNDERBIRDS GARNER PROVINCIAL AWARDS

The Vancouver Thunderbirds is pleased to announce that three of our Junior Development Athletes have been awarded BC Athletics Junior Development Awards for the 2008 Track and Field season. Those winners are as follows:

Christian Gravel (1994): Awarded in the Distance category for being dominant and within 3% of standard in the 1500m with a personal best time of 4:33.96.

Lauren Gillespie (1994): Awarded for making standard in the Sprints category for her 400m personal best of 59.56.

Marie Louise Forsyth (1999): Awarded for making standard in both the Throws and the Combined Events categories for a Shot Put of 6.67m and a Pentathlon total of 1,359 points.

Congratulations to all three winners for their impressive performances! These athletes will each be presented a plaque at the annual BC Athletics JD Banquet to be held at the end of the cross country season, and will be recognized at the Thunderbirds own banquet as well.
