Podiums and Personal Bests for Vancouver Thunderbirds at BC High School Championships

Vancouver Thunderbirds had a great showing at the 2018 BC High School Championships, hosted by Ocean's Athletics at the Mcleod Athletic Park in Langley, BC from May 31st-June 2nd. 

Over twenty Thunderbird athletes in total took part in the event, while competing for their respective schools. 

Highlight performances included:

Paul Fisher winning the Senior Boy's 400mH in 56.75, after battling a hamstring injury for most of the season. Fisher was also fourth in the Sr. Boy's 400m (50.19) just missing the podium in his secondary event. Fisher was followed closely by Thunderbird Egidio Cantarella, who was fifth in 50.31.

Alex Pescitelli won gold in the Senior Men's 200m with a personal best time of 22.06. 

Also coming off injury, was Luka Poljak, who won a bronze medal in the Senior Men's High Jump, in a lifetime best of 1.85m.

The top female Thunderbirds at the Championships were Alexandra Campbell and Logan Fung. Campbell, coached by Cindy Crowther and Sean Dawson won the Grade 8 Girl's 3000m, and placed third in the 1500m. Fung (coached by Andrew Cooke) raced to a silver medal in the Junior Girl's 300mH event, with a time of 47.19.  Her power speed teammate, Terence Cheung placed fourth in the Junior boy's 300mH, with a new personal best of 40.84.
