Weekend Round-Up

Over the Valentine’s weekend we saw some Thunderbirds in action in Seattle at the Husky Classic on Friday and Saturday, and the University of Washington Open on the Sunday.

Thunderbird and WAC Canada athlete Amonn Nelson ran in the 60m in both the Husky Classic and the Open, running 7.63 and 7.79 respectively. Fellow athlete Rohan Stewart also ran a solid 7.04 in the men’s 60m at the Husky Classic. The 3000m at the Husky Classic saw both Erica Digby and Rachel Cliff run. Digby’s result was 9:27.78 and Cliff ran 9:16.19.

In the field events at the Husky Classic Heather Hamilton had a successful day in the pole vault. After clearing 4.37m in the pole vault, she went on to attempt what would have been a personal best of 4.42m (PB is 4.40m). She was unsuccessful at 4.42m but won the competition with her 4.37m clearance.

On Sunday’s University of Washington Open there were more Thunderbird athletes in action. In the 3000m Rhiannon Evans 9:54.22 and Calli Charlton ran 10:58.04. In the men’s 1000m Matthew So crossed the line at 2:32.78, and Kapil Anad in 2:39.48. On the field in the triple jump competition  Emily Huser jumped 10.25m.
