Harry Jerome Indoor

The Harry Jerome Indoor Games took place on February 6th in Richmond, BC with a large number of Vancouver Thunderbirds taking part. There were a number of top 3 places across the events and age groups.

On the female side Hayley Madden came 2nd in both the Open Women 300m (43.10) and the 600m (1:43.40), whilst Jonelle Bell-Spence took the top spot in the same age category in the 60m with 7.82. Top spots were also achieved by Maya Baechler in the Girls age 11 600m (1:51.17), Sophie Forsyth in the Girls age 12 600m (1:57.97), Sydney Debrisay in the 16-17 1000m (3:31.96), and the open women’s 4x200m team came in 1st place with 1:49.91.

The male Thunderbirds also had a number of top place finishers, including a meet record in the 16-17 600m from Paul Fisher with 1:28.80. Fisher also came 2nd in the 300m with 38.24, a race won by fellow Vancouver Thunderbird Quinn Litherland in 36.60. Litherland also came 3rd in the 60m with 7.42 in the finals. First places finishes were seen from Kai Martland in the age 10 600m (2:07.26), Francis Sadlier in the age 12 600m (2:07.38), Marcus Britnell in age 13 600m (1:49.31), Andrew Feng in the 14-15 60m hurdles (10.12), the age 10, 11 and 13 4x200m relay (2:25.60, 2:35.21, 2:06.51).

Overall, the combined team scores brought the Vancouver Thunderbirds second place, only four points behind the winners, Ocean Athletics. Congratulations to all who competed this weekend, full results can be found at http://www.harryjerome.com/events/2016-jerome-indoor-games.
