Canadian Cross Country Championships

This past weekend several Thunderbirds athletes travelled to Kingston with the BC Team for the Canadian XC Championships on Saturday 28th November. The weather was cool and windy for the morning races and thankfully the expected snowfall stayed away. The grassy course was mildly undulating.

The Youth Girls and Boys races had almost 200 athletes in each race, with Julia Greer and Michael Milic running well respectively. Julia came 48th in the 4km race in 15:20.5, and Michael placed 14th in the boys 6km race with a time of 19:39.8.

The Senior Women’s 8km race was very competitive and included Thunderbirds Rachel Cliff and Erica Digby. The finish was very exciting with Rachel sprinting hard to get into the medals, placing 3rd with
27:24.1. Erica ran a strong race coming in 17th with a 28:32.6.

In the Master’s 8km race Coach Stan ran with the lead group and held off a late charge at the finish, finishing 4th in 27:50.9.

Congratulations to all the athletes who raced in Kingston!
