T'Birds Claim 6 Medals at BC Cross-Country Championships - Close to team title
The Vancouver Thunderbirds were well represented at the 2013 BC Cross Country Championships in Clearbrook Park, Abbotsford; 25 Tbirds taking part. The T'Birds came close to claiming the overall team title losing to Ocean Athletics 42 points to 34. (Full team results can be found here). The individual highlights were: a win in the senior ladies race by Rachel Cliff, who ran strongly and led from start to finish; second place finishes by Paul Fisher in the 13 Boy’s race, Roberto Pelayo Mazzone in the 14 Boy’s race; Jonah Glover-Cook in the 12 Boy’s race ; and Freya Savage in the 12 Girls event. Cali Charlton rounded out the medal winners with a third place finish in the 15 Girls event.
Just missing out on medals were: Michael Harris in 4th in the 14 Boy’s race, and Marshall Brodie (5th in the 15 Boy’s race).
In the 9 year old Girl’s race Tbirds: Sophie Forsyth, Jessica Kieffer, Finley Butler and Delia Warrington ran great as a team; finishing 4th, 6th, 8th and 11th respectively.
All of the Thunderbirds ran with heart and pushed themselves hard to the finish line. Way to go!
