Junior Development Athletes Close 2018 Outdoor Season on top.

BC JD CHAMPIONSHIPS – KELOWNA – JULY 27th to 29th

The Vancouver Thunderbirds JD athletes finished their season in fine form at the BC JD Championships this past weekend, claiming eight first place, eleven second place and eight third place finishes. In addition twelve athletes narrowly missed the medals, finishing in fourth place; an outstanding achievement for the team of twenty two.

First place finishes went to: Elijah Clarke (1000m), Maya Baechler (1200m), Loren Eisses (200m hurdles), Natalie Franke (discus),Clare Logan (high jump), Maclean Carlson (high jump), Mason Van Raamsdonk (javelin), Natalie Franke (Shot) and Jordyn Reed (triple jump).

Second place finishes were achieved by: Gabbie Barton (1000m), Luc Primeau (1000m), Loren Eisses (100m), Elijah Clarke (600m),Luc  Primeau (600m), Maclean Carlson (60m hurdles), Maya Baechler (800m), Roman Yeterian (800m race walk), Jordyn Reed (long jump), Emily Franke (shot) and Clarence Cheung (triple jump).

Taking third place were: Alice Barton (1000m), Clarence Cheung (200m hurdles), Chloe Symon (600m), Cristina Banducci (800m),Brayden Horlock (800m), Roman  Yeterian (discus), Maclean Carlson (long jump) and Clare Logan (shot).

In addition the two relays teams medalled: Natalie Franke, Gabbie Barton, Lili Horlock, and Kate logan finished 2nd in the 2007 4*100m, with Loren Eisses, Emily Franke, Maya Baechler, and Chloe Symon finishing third in the 2005 4*100m.

All the athletes are to be commended for their focus and effort participating in difficult conditions (temperatures reaching 39 celsius). Particularly noteworthy are the performances of Maya, Loren and Brayden all of whom overcame significant injuries or illnesses prior to the championships.
