JD's EXCEL at BC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Thunderbird JD athletes achieved excellent results at the BC JD Championships held in Surrey; earning a total of three gold, four silver,  and seven bronze medals and an additional thirty-six top eight finishes.

Amelia Kristen had an excellent meet picked up two gold medals (6om and 600m), a silver (100m) and two bronzes (60m hurdles and high jump). Maya Baechler won the 1000m and finished second in the 600m. Luka Dolman earned a silver in the 100m and a bronze medal as part of the Medley (Luka, Jonah, Matthew and Dylan).  Jonah Glover Cook ran a big PB in the 800m to pick up a second bronze.  4*100m Luka, Dylan, Jeff & Cole) and Hanna Pawlik jump wonderfully to finish second in the long jump and Sophia Aitken had a great run to finish 3rd in the 60m.  The grade 7 girls (Anna Aitken, Maggie MacKay, Ruby Fox and Cynthia Wei) matched the boys with a bronze in the medley relay, with Dylan Ulrich, Matthew Kieffer, Cole Gladders and Jeffrey Cheung,  picking up a bronze in the 4*100m relay.

While all of these results are commendable, equally heartening was the fact that Thunderbird athletes recorded fifty two seasonal best performances when it counts; in the championships.

Way to go all of you. A good summer vacation has certainly been earned.
