Great Performances at Junior Nationals

Alyx Treasure was crowned National Junior Champion in Winnipeg this past weekend (July 9th), clearing a height of 1m81 in the High Jump.  She then attempted a new personal best of 1m84, narrowly missing her attempts at that height.  With the win, Alyx was named to the National Junior Team that will compete at the Pan Am Junior Championships to be held in Miramar, Florida from July 22 through 24, 2011.  Next up for Alyx are the BC Championships this coming weekend on the new Mondo jumping facility in Coquitlam.

 Jake Powrie finished 4th in the Decathlon at the Canadian Junior Championships in Winnepeg with a score of 6133; a major improvement on his third place score of 5197 at the BC High School Championships. Strong showing in the 400m, high jump, javelin and 1500m events helped lift him to within 68 point of third place. Winner of the event , with 6597 point was James Turner who took the gold at the BC HS Champs.
